Columbia Gas makes a corporate donation to support the Mid-Ohio Foodbank's new distribution facility in Grove City.
Columbia Gas of Ohio recently presented Mid-Ohio Foodbank President Matt Habash with a corporate donation, in support of the Foodbank’s Campaign to Sustain for its new distribution facility in Grove City. This is the second donation from Columbia Gas for the campaign this year. The check was presented to Habash by Dave Monte, General Manager of Columbia Gas of Ohio and Kentucky, who noted that Columbia has been a strong supporter of the Foodbank for nearly 30 years through philanthropy, volunteerism and employee food drives. “We are proud to be a part of the new facility that triples the Foodbank’s capacity to serve more families in central Ohio,” Monte said. Habash said that it is support from organizations like Columbia that made it possible for the Foodbank to distribute food for more than 47,000 meals each day in 2009. The Campaign to Sustain is a $16 million fund raising effort in support of the new distribution center. To date, the Foodbank has raised $14.8 million and is working to meet a March 31, 2010 fundraising challenge issued by the Kresge Foundation. If the Foodbank meets its $16 million goal by March 31, Kresge will contribute an additional $1.45 million. For more information on the campaign, or to donate, visit the Campaign To Sustain
