West Toledo Neighborhood to Benefit From Columbia Gas of Ohio’s Pipeline Improvement Program
TOLEDO, Oh -- Columbia Gas of Ohio customers in Toledo’s Monroe and Meadowbrook neighborhood will benefit from a natural gas pipeline improvement project.
Approximately 3,700 feet of natural gas mainline will be replaced along Monroe, Meadowbrook and Sherbrooke starting in early August 2010. The $370,000 project will upgrade existing steel pipe with plastic pipe, move inside meters to the outside and will impact 109 residential and commercial customers. The project should take approximately 3 months to complete.
The work will require a temporary interruption of natural gas service. Customers impacted will be contacted via letter in advance of the scheduled work. Columbia Gas will make personal contact with customers prior to shutting off service and to schedule re-light appointments.
As a reminder, all Columbia Gas employees and contractors carry identification cards bearing their name, photograph and identification number and will be happy to show them.
Columbia Gas is investing in capital projects across Ohio to improve the safety and reliability of its pipeline system, including nearly $2 billion over the next 25 years to improve its 19,000 mile underground pipeline system. The work will also ensure customer access to adequate supplies of natural gas, a domestically abundant, safe and environmentally responsible solution to our nation’s energy needs today and tomorrow. In addition to creating jobs in local communities, this work will result in a modern energy system helping keep Ohio business and industry globally competitive.
