Pipeline Improvement Projects

These projects are part of a $2 billion commitment being made by Columbia Gas of Ohio to ensure we have a safe, reliable supply of clean burning natural gas far into the future.

These projects will:

  • Replace an aging infrastructure, which means fewer repairs; lower maintenance costs; and reduce service interruptions.
  • Create jobs in your community and throughout Ohio.
  • Eliminate the inconvenience of having to enter your home or business to read the meter, if it is located inside.

Important Safety Message

Natural gas pipelines are the safest form of fuel transportation in the nation. Sometimes, however, failures do occur and it is important for you to know how to respond.

Odor of Gas

Natural gas has a rotten egg or petroleum odor that can alert you to a leak in or around your home. If you smell an odor of gas:

  1. Leave the building immediately. Leave the door open and don't use light switches or matches.
  2. Call our 24-hour emergency number 1-800-344-4077 from a phone outside the building and wait for our service crew to arrive and you can then explain the exact situation.
  3. If Columbia Gas crews are working in the area, contact them and the on-site project supervisor.
