Natural Gas Patio Heaters

A natural gas patio heater or deck heater can be easily installed at your home and will add to your entertaining comfort.

Efficiency

Natural gas patio heaters use infra-red burners that radiate warmth like the sun. Infra-red heat does not warm the air on your patio near the heater, but rather warms people and objects. This makes it comfortable to entertain family and friends on chilly evenings. These infra-red heaters are able to use the natural gas line that supplies the fuel to your natural gas grill on your deck or patio and the natural gas appliances inside your home. With a natural gas grill nearby, this appliance becomes easy to install.

Features

  • Patio heaters are typically eight feet tall with a diameter of about 18 inches. The burner is mounted at the top of the heater and has a small umbrella-type reflector installed above it to direct the infra-red heat downward toward the patio. These heaters concentrate their warmth in a 20-foot diameter area.
  • Patio heaters have two installation types from which to choose. The first is the permanent mounting design where there unit is mounted in a fixed location on the deck or patio using a steel gas line. The second design has the patio heater getting its gas through a 15-foot long flexible appliance hose. This design allows you to move your heater to various places on the deck, rather than being permanently mounted in one spot.
  • Most patio heaters have burners, which provide 40,000 BTUs/hour to 60,000 BTUs/hour of warmth. The burners feature piezo spark ignition and light with a twist of the knob. Many manufacturers have adjustable burners on their heaters to allow the homeowner to vary the heating output from 50 percent to 100 percent of the burner capacity.
