Teaching about savings
Students in grades 4 – 12 are learning how to save energy and money at home through our e3smart program. Each year, this energy efficiency education program reaches more than 21,000 students and teaches them the science of energy efficiency through a curriculum developed by the Ohio Energy Project.
Free curriculum and equipment
All the training and lab materials teachers need to instruct five hands-on science lessons are provided at no cost. The lessons are aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards. Each teacher will receive:
- Free curriculum and lab equipment
- Free energy efficiency kits for every participating student that includes an energy efficient showerhead, faucet aerators, weather stripping, and other natural gas saving equipment.
- Teacher stipend for teachers who meet program requirements
- Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and optional graduate credit
How can a school in my community apply?
A school must be located within our service territory to participate. Columbia Gas of Ohio and AEP Ohio partner to co-deliver the program in overlapping service territories. Get more information and register.
