Recent events have reinforced that our journey to achieve equality and unity in our country is far from over. Americans are suffering and scared about their future. We must do more to recognize this reality and address the issue of racism in our communities. We must do more to ensure that people feel safe in their own cities and homes. We must do more to seek solutions and come together to make impactful change. We must do more.
Over the weekend, I, along with more than 750 Columbus business leaders, signed a letter to show support for the Columbus City Council resolution deeming racism a public health emergency. This letter is just one of many important next steps that needs to happen and further demonstrate the need for meaningful collective action.
As you will read in the letter linked above, the issue being addressed is not a political one; rather, a matter of ensuring all Americans live in a culture based on freedom, equality, respect and where their basic human rights are protected.
I am sharing this letter with you because I want you to know where I stand on this issue. I am committed to using my voice to speak up and take action whenever and wherever I can to ensure that ALL Americans can live free of fear and discrimination.
