
Columbus, OH – On Aug. 8, 2025, Columbia Gas of Ohio will launch a new grant program to support public safety education and training program initiatives. This grant will fund grant recipients’ public safety education and first responder training, while aligning with Columbia Cares’ basic needs and safety priorities and grant-making criteria.

By promoting safety practices and embracing innovative solutions, Columbia supports community connectivity and seeks to create lasting, positive impact through our values and actions. This new public safety grant will further that mission.
Grant funding is intended for public safety education and training programs. General operating costs and equipment purchases, unless essential for training, are not eligible for this grant program. Applications must be submitted via the YourCause platform beginning Aug. 8, 2025, through Aug. 29, 2025, and must come from or through nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status. A committee of Columbia and NiSource team members will review and score submissions. Grants range from $500 to $5,000 and are awarded as one-time stipends, with potential for annual renewal. Grant recipients will be notified and announced in early Q4.
